0 Valentino Rossi wins seventh MotoGP world title

Italian racer, Valentino Rossi, ensuring himself a MotoGP world champion in 2009 after occupying the third position in the Malaysian GP, Sunday (25/10).

Rossi position in the race that was ultimately won by Australian Ducati rider Casey Stoner. Meanwhile, Spaniard, Dani Pedrosa, was in second position. Rossi, Fiat Yamaha team pebalap already 38 points ahead of closest rival, Jorge Lorenzo, just need a big four positions to defend the world title.

Malaysian GP race was marked by the conviction of the drivers from Spain, Jorge Lorenzo. Second place in qualifying, Saturday, Lorenzo punishment for failing to occupy the position in time. Lorenzo himself eventually finish in fourth.


MotoGP racing was suspended a few minutes due to heavy rain which flushed the Sepang circuit. Previously, the weather was clear enough so that all drivers can do warm-up session Sunday morning.

Rossi retained his world title with one race to spare and heads the championship standings with 286 points. Team-mate Jorge Lorenzo, who finished fourth at Sepang, trails in second place with 245 points.

Rossi, 30, also has 250cc and 125cc titles to his name, making him a nine-time world champion. His seven titles in the premier class puts him only behind Italy's Giacomo Agostini, who won eight between 1966 and 1975.
